Calling a woman a “Jezebel” is a trope in white evangelicalism to shame those of us who are outspoken, to silence dissent, and to reframe confidence and leadership as spiritual rebellion. Jezebels supposedly use sexual prowess and manipulation to get what they want.
In other words, a Modern Jezebel is patriarchy’s worst nightmare.
This space is for the spiritual misfits. The rabble rousers. The ne’er-do-wells who believe we can heal the American evangelical church by listening to women, centering untold stories, and finding the people contemporary churches push to the margins. Together, we can hold evangelicalism accountable for its past while moving toward a healthier future.
I’m Tiffany, a mom, who was raised in Texas but has been rooted in Montana for nearly two decades. I spent a decade as a professional photographer, honing a love for photojournalism and storytelling that now informs my work as a writer and activist. I’m captivated by the intersection of faith, politics, and culture. My words are in HuffPo, CNN Opinion, U.S. News & World Report, and Business Insider.
For years, I’ve been writing about Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation’s blueprint to abolish the constitution and overthrow our checks and balances system through the Trump administration. We built a community of Democracy Defenders, rescuers of this great American experiment against the right-wing extremists who planned to pillage it. But we didn’t win. Now we’re watching our government systematically dismantle the civil rights we hold dear under the guise of Christianity.
This is the corner of the internet for people who grew up going to church camp every summer, who wore a purity ring, who were immersed in religious subculture but now feel betrayed by the destructive, demented perverse version of Christianity that has a stranglehold on U.S. politics – one that protects predators and punishes victims.
If you want a better way forward for our daughters, this is me making heart hands at you and pouring a cup of tea.
